Enchanting Art Nouveau lockets, just in time for The Holidays. A lavish water lily blooms under a radiant crescent moon on the front of this delightful antique locket. Repoussé metal work creates the bas-relief flower framed in undulating leaves. Graduated white paste stones curve over the white flower, forming a sliver of moon. The locket's back is hand engraved with the monogram "AMM." The interior is nice and clean, with two intact frames and a tight clasp. The locket's interior is marked "W&H Co." in a heart-shaped cartouche. This piece hangs on a vintage gold-filled curb chain. Circa 1900.
Wightman & Hough Company started in the mid-1800s, producing very popular lockets until 1922. Their slogan was, "There's a heart in every locket!" referring literally to their heart-shaped maker's mark and metaphorically to the sentimental nature of the lockets themselves.
Details.....The chain is 16" long, and the locket measures 1.19" in diameter. In Very Good Antique Condition. You should always expect some wear on vintage and antique jewels; we consider it part of the charm.
