This is an antique hand fan advertising Maison Brown Ladies Wear, located in Montreal. The litho on the paper fan shows a pretty Edwardian era girl - why they would staple her face is questionable. Text on the fan reads With Compliments Maison Brown Ladies Wear 1251 Mount Royal East, Corner Breboeuf Tel. CH. 2812 Montreal - the same text is also in French. The fan measures 5 1/8 by 13 1/2, including its wood handle. It is in very good condition except for some moisture staining to the upper right, very minor - otherwise, this has been very well preserved. This is a rare and quite wonderful early Montreal collectible - being Canadian, not too many would have been made. Guaranteed old and original - a nice piece advertising early Canadian retailing!
